Post-colonialism Theory
Post-colonialism is the representation of white, British people in the media after the colonization to make them look superior and stay in power against the others. White, British people are represented as heroic, clean, polite, strong, while the others are represented as exotic and barbaric.
Case Study - Bridgerton
Bridgerton comforts post-colonialism because the British royalty are dressed very nicely, they talk and act very politely, they live in a mansion and are highly respected by people.
However, it also subverts post-colonialism because the royalty in this series consists of a lot of people with color/the "others", instead of only white British people. The main character, Simon Basset, is a black man and he is married to Daphne Basset, a white British woman. The white British people can be seen living together along with the "others"
