PODCAST

Batman Unburied
We listened to this podcast in class. It is a scripted, high-budget podcast with BGM, sound effects and proper audio. This podcast is narrative based and the story is divided into 10 episodes, about 30 minutes each. The sound effects and BGM used makes it more interesting and easier for audiences to imagine and picture the story.

Solved Murders: True Crimes Mysteries - The Candy Box Killer
This podcast is a scripted, high-budget podcast with BGM, sound effects, a theme song and proper audio. It is a mix of both narrative based and narrator based. Two people are narrating the story and they sometimes act dialogues out as if they are the character in the story. Some cases are episodic (1 crime case per episode) and some crime episodes are divided into 2-3 episodes. The vocabulary they used is not very hard and it was fairly easy to understand the story. At the beginning of the podcast before the story starts, they stated a quick disclaimer of how graphic the story is. In the middle of episodes, they advertised other podcasts from Padcast, such as Serial Killers and Mythology.

You're Dead To Me - Stonehenge
This podcast is a high-budget, unscripted, history podcast with a proper structure, good quality audio and theme song. They invited an expert historian and a comedian as the guests. This choice of guests is good because the expert can explain the history well, while the comedian can make the podcast more interesting, funnier and less tense to keep the audiences engaged.

The Weekly Planet - Ghostbusters 2016 - The Caravan of Garbage
This podcast is a low-budget, unscripted mystery podcast. The audio quality was good enough but not a lot of elements are seen in the podcast, it was just two friends talking about their opinions on movies with not a lot of structure in the podcast. They included a lot of references to old media that most of their target audiences (men 30-40 y.o who likes movies) will probably understand.

5 Minute History - The History of Chocolate
This podcast is a scripted, high-budget history podcast which includes a theme song, the introduction to the podcast the history itself and an advert for other podcasts and their website/youtube channel. There are 2 speakers in the podcast, a woman who did the intro and the outro and a man who explained about the history. They used a monotone voice which made it a little too serious and boring. I like how they did the intro because they explained a little about what the entire podcast series is about.

The Always Sunny Podcast - The Sweet Cream of Justice
This Podcast is an unscripted, low-budget, conversational comedy podcast. There was 4 speakers and they were all talking in their unserious, natural and fast-paced voices. There was no intro to this podcast, it was straight to the point and it seems like the audience are just thrown into their conversation.  There were no intro/outro theme songs and sound effects so it can be a little uninteresting and boring.

Crimehub: A True Crime Podcast - Unsolved Murder: The Tragic Case of the Boy in the Box
This Podcast is a high-budget, scripted true crime podcast with an intro song and a lot of sound effects. It is a narrator based podcast in which a narrator tells the story to us. I like this podcast because they used a lot of specific sound effects in the story (ex. the narrator says "the police received a call from Fred" while a phone ringing SFX was played in the background). This makes it so much easier for audiences to visualize what was happening the story, which makes it more interesting and makes the story scarier.
